Tangerine Dream in Klub Progresja (Warsaw) – December 5, 2024
Still dreaming… Tangerine Dream delivered a spectacular concert in Warsaw, the second stop on their four-leg Polish tour. The performance took place in a packed Klub Progresja, where the atmosphere was both intimate and intense. The audience was taken on a journey through decades of electronic music, perfectly balancing between nostalgic classics and innovative new works.
The evening opened with a mesmerizing rendition of Phaedra, a masterpiece from their early period. Tangerine Dream effortlessly transitioned between iconic tracks like Horizon, Section 1 and 2 (Poland: The Warsaw Concert), Choronzon (Exit), Stratosfear and The Dream Is Always the Same (Hyperborea), alongside newer compositions like Continuum, Raum and You’re Always on Time (Raum). The choice of Horizon, Section 1 and 2 was particularly poignant, given its historical connection to the city of Warsaw, adding an emotional depth to the evening. The set concluded with the dynamic No Happy Endings (GTA5) and a long, powerful improvisation (Session) that highlighted the band’s creative spontaneity.
The technical execution was phenomenal. Tangerine Dream’s signature sequencer patterns created a hypnotic rhythm, while ethereal pieces like Dolphin Dance (Underwater Sunlight) provided moments of contemplative beauty.
The visual presentation was equally impressive. Abstract visuals and atmospheric patterns enhanced the music, creating an almost synesthetic experience where the boundaries between sound and image dissolved. The evening felt like a complete artistic immersion.
As one fan aptly noted: “A lot of energy combined with good old days of sequencing… fantastic versions of Phaedra, Horizon and Stratosfear combined with modern stuff like Continuum and Raum.” The concert in Warsaw was a triumph, a celebration of their rich musical legacy and a testament to their ongoing evolution. It was an evening that perfectly captured the essence of Tangerine Dream: groundbreaking, emotional and timeless.
