Midsummer Prog Festival 2023 was an event not to be missed and The Progspace was there. During the third week of September, the Dutch city of Tilburg became Ayreon city. It welcomed around 15,000 guests from over 60 countries, all there to enjoy “Ayreon 01011001 Live Beneath the Waves”. As a passionate concert goer and a fan of the extreme arts, this evening was one I couldn’t miss. The legendary tech-death group Obscura recently had a tour through Europe with support acts Disillusion and Persefone, the latter being a beloved favourite of mine. It is a tour that had been announced before the pandemic only to be repeatedly postponed until it finally happened. During this time both frustration and anticipation were left to boil, so when the riffs finally unleashed, it was catharsis time.
