Solidarity with Ukraine & prog metal from Texas & France!

Releases of the Week 14/2022 with Dream the Electric Sleep, TesseracT, Framing Skeletons, Enhalo & Atlantis Chronicles
Solidarity with Ukraine & prog metal from Texas & France!

This week brings us two surprise charity releases in support of Ukraine from Dream the Electric Sleep and TesseracT (and that new Pink Floyd single as well of course). Apart from that we’ve got a 21-minute EP from Texan prog metal trio Framing Skeletons, more Texan music with the debut release of Enhalo and finally some french progressive death metal(core) from the Atlantis Chronicles. But that’s our highlights only of course. Over 30 more release to be discovered, either through our Spotify playlist or the Bandcamp links below. Happy exploring!

Dream The Electric Sleep - Solo Live Cover Songs Volume 1

06 April, 2022 | self-released
DTES_SoloLiveCoverSongsVol1

Solidarity with Ukraine 1: Dream the Electric Sleep frontman Matt Page has compiled a couple of acoustic live renditions that he put out on their YouTube channel over the last couple of weeks into an EP that is available on Bandcamp now. All proceeds will go to humanitarian relief in Ukraine. Dario

TesseracT - Regrowth EP

TesseracT_Regrowth

Solidarity with Ukraine 2: TesseracT have decided to put two ‘outtake’ songs that didn’t really fit the vibe or direction of their upcoming 5th album out as a Bandcamp EP. “We chose to help The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) in their drive to aid those in Ukraine affected by the invasion by Russia, and warzones around the world.” Get two killer TesseracT songs and do a good deed. (Solidarity with Ukraine 3 this week would be Pink Floyd’s new single ‘Hey Hey Rise Up’ I guess.) Dario

Framing Skeletons - The Rightful Heir to Acrelot EP

08 April, 2022 | self-released

It should come as no surprise to our loyal readers that we here at The Progspace are huge fans of Texan prog metal trio Framing Skeletons. They have churned out three diverse albums over the course of three years (2019/2020/2021), still a duo back then, one better than the other and opened our 2021 Online Festival with a killer set. They also released it as “The Progspace Sessions EP” and you can still watch the performance here! But now, leading up to what is going to become their 4th full length studio album, their brand new 21 minute one-song EP “The Rightful Heir to Acrelot” kind of sums up everything they’ve done so far while also hinting at the immediate future. From the hard-hitting, complex and chunky prog passages to the whimsical and melancholy melodies with an abundance of harmonies, “The Rightful Heir to Acrelot” has got it all and makes our mouth water in anticipation of Framing Skeletons 4. Bring it on! Dario

Enhalo - The Great Dying

08 April, 2022 | self-released
Enhalo_TheGreatDying

Short full length on the technical side of prog #1: instrumental. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, instrumental prog death duo Enhalo is making a grand entrance into the scene with “The Great Dying”. Five tracks, 33 minutes of blistering technical metal, topped off with orchestral flourishings and delicious jazzy side courses. The second single “Sharp Hips and Short Vibrations” sounds like early Dream Theater with blast-beats and then some. Enhalo show great promise and talent in both the writing and the performance department, would love to see them coming back with a full band line-up for album number two. Recommended for fans of The Wormhole Experience, Pitts Minnemann Project (keyboarder Jimmy Pitts guests on ‘Staring Back’) and the likes. Dario

Atlantis Chronicles - Nera

08 April, 2022 | self-released

Short full length on the technical side of prog #1: with vocals. French progressive death metal-with-metalcore-influences band Atlantis Chronicles is back with “Nera”, their third album. Six years after their sophomore effort “Barton’s Odyssey”, the five-piece from Paris present a highly energetic and melodic amalgam of death, core, (neoclassical) shred and djent-elements that’s just a lot of fun to listen to. Good balance of technical riffing and shredding and melodic hooks, epic choruses or the occasional flamenco style break. Killer artwork, cool merch, what’s not to like? Dario

About the Author

Dario

Co-Founder of The Progspace - Dario discovered the world of Prog upon hearing "Shine on you crazy diamond" for the first time at the tender age of 12 around the turn of the millennium. Coming from a musical family and brought up with classical music, this seemed to be the logical next step. Attended the school of www.progulus.com from 2002, delving into both directions: catching up with the history of already more than 30 years of progressive music as well as always staying up to date with the newest prog sounds. He loves meeting like-minded people and enjoying live music at a concert somewhere in Europe.

Colin

Colin is a progressive metal drummer who currently plays with Ashbreather and Vicarious Reality. His introduction to prog was through his father with the likes of Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, and Rush back in 2007. As the years went by, he would eventually work on his taste to get into more extreme forms of prog, and now adores bands like Opeth, Persefone, Atheist, BTBAM, Serpent Column, Slugdge, and countless others.
