Michał Łapaj – live at Ino-Rock 2024

Michał Łapaj, known for his emotive keyboard work with Riverside, delivered a spellbinding solo performance at the Ino-Rock Festival, blending atmospheric and melancholic elements with remarkable finesse. The concert opened with "Session 1" from his Sessions album (2022), setting the tone with its immersive and moody soundscapes, enhanced by a dynamic light show. Joined by drummer Maciej Dzik, Łapaj then showcased four tracks from his debut solo album Are You There (2021), including "In Limbo," "Surfacing," "Flying Blind," and "Shattered Memories." Each track highlighted his ability to craft intricate sonic worlds, weaving together dark ambiance with rich keyboard textures and subtle electronic undertones.

A standout moment came with the performances of "Flying Blind" and "Shattered Memories," where Mick Moss of Antimatter lent his soulful, trembling vocals. His emotional delivery added a layer of melancholy to the already haunting melodies, particularly in "Flying Blind," which resonated deeply with its themes of separation and misunderstanding. Though fans were left wishing for a future collaboration with Bela Komoszyńska to explore Łapaj’s full range, his set was a testament to his versatility and emotional depth. His ability to merge progressive rock, electronic, and melancholic influences solidified his place as a compelling artist in the progressive rock scene.
