Band Spotlight: Feather Mountain – The Progspace 10th Anniversary Show
Feather Mountain write from the places most bands avoid, and they ask you to stay there with them.
Our story with Feather Mountain extends back some time a bit further as with most bands on this bill. We featured the Copenhagen quartet, formed in 2017, with Christian and Mikkel Lohmann as guests on the Progcast 052 in 2020.
The following year, in Nov. 2021, Van and Matt went to see them live just as fans, at an intimate show in Sønderborg just across the border from Flensburg (where they live). And just a few days later, the band played the third edition of The Progspace Online Festival – 3rd Edition.
In April 2022 we premiered the beautiful video for ‘Sincere’, our first glimpse of “To Exit A Maelstrom”, and Dario sat down once again with them to have a nice chat for Progtalks Season 02- Ep26, shortly before the album came out.
“To Exit A Maelstrom” was a deeply personal record, written around the Dahl-Blumenberg brothers’ father and his early Alzheimer’s diagnosis. It quickly became one of our favourite releases of the year. Weeks later we watched them carry that weight onto the stage at ProgPower Europe 2022. Since then the band has kept moving. Among many other shows, they’ve played Roskilde Festival, Euroblast and Copenhell Freezes Over, and opened for VOLA on their Scandinavian dates.
“A Liminal Step”, released in November 2025, is their boldest work so far. It has more electronic textures, uses tarot imagery to frame a journey into the unknown, and writes openly about vulnerability and self acceptance. Dario singled out ‘Prayer Wall’ in our Releases of the Week, and the album earned two nominations in The Progspace Awards 2025: Progressive Metal Album of the Year and Cover Artwork of the Year.
2026 opened a new chapter, with Jonas Høyrup taking over vocals from longtime frontman Mikkel Lohmann. Just a couple of weeks ago, Dario went all the way from Munich to Copenhagen to see them live at the Copenhagen Metal Fest 2026, and according to him: “we’re all in for a major treat” featuring Jonas fronting the band. Hoofddorp will be your chance to hear these songs in a new voice!
Few bands make heaviness feel this human. That is one of the many reasons why Feather Mountain is on our bill.
Catch Feather Mountain live at our10th Anniversary Show – “100 Reasons to Celebrate” at CPUNT, Hoofddorp (NL – 10 minutes from Amsterdam Airport), on the 28th November 2026.
