Doomsday Astronaut premiere explosive new single Enemy
Romanian Instrumental Prog Metal Force Doomsday Astronaut, founded by and around virtuoso guitarist Waqas Ahmed in 2022, have already seen numerous highlights and successes during their relatively young career. Winning the contest at Posada Rock Festival in the year of their foundation, and winning the Romanian Wacken Metal Battle in 2024 which led them to perform at the world’s biggest Metal Festival as first instrumental band in the history of that particular contest, securing the 4th place in the global battle on the holy grounds of Metal in Northern Germany, just to name a few.
Today, Doomsday Astronaut surprise with an almost straight forward Alternative Metal banger – but with an unexpected vocal twist. But no worries – there’s no shortage of progressive virtuosity and complexity.
The new song is called ‘Enemy’ and it is the first single from the upcoming Doomsday Astronaut album called “Origins”, expected to come out early 2026. The song is a departure from Doomsday Astronaut’s previous instrumental direction as it sees guitarist Waqas Ahmed take over vocal duties.
The lyrical theme for “Enemy” revolves around the idea that we are the only ones who are holding ourselves back. We always find an excuse or a reason to blame our shortcomings on circumstances beyond our control but in reality we don’t always do our best to make the most of what we can do. The song also explains that sometimes, In life we need an enemy more than we need a friend because an enemy will give us purpose to do better. Whereas, A friend, Is metaphorically a comfort that might hinder evolution.Basically, We can always complain that life is not ideal or maybe that it is bad but we also need to realize that it is the only one we have and we should make the most of it.
