Disillusion live at Prog Metal Mania in Munich! 2nd May 2025

Disillusion

This was my second time seeing the veteran German band Disillusion live, and honestly, they were just as excellent as the first time, if not better! They are, without a doubt, one of the best live bands I’ve encountered in recent years. Their performance was a masterclass in dynamic range and precision.

Disillusion’s stage presence is electric. The band effortlessly shifts from raw, intense aggression to beautifully smooth, melodic passages, showcasing their deep musicality and control. Their leader, vocalist and guitarist Andy Schmidt, stands out with one of the finest voices in progressive metal. Whether delivering clean vocals or powerful grunts, he is a commanding presence, guiding both his band and the audience through a flawlessly polished set. Either clean or grunts, he's a master behind the mic and a natural leader conducting both the band and the audience through a polished show. A perfect way to close the first day of the festival on a high note. Disillusion proved once again why they remain a top-tier force in the progressive metal scene.
