F.K.Ü. live at Prog Metal Mania in Munich! 2nd May 2025
F.K.Ü. (SE)
Well... F.K.Ü. short for Freddy Krueger’s Ünderwear (yes, really!), definitely won the award for the most unexpected turn at Prog Metal Mania 2025. Not my thing musically, and definitely not a progressive band in any case, but I have to say: they were one hell of a fun moment in the festival.
Hailing from Uppsala, Sweden, these guys bring an over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek tribute to 80s and 90s horror flicks. Think classic slasher vibes, full horror makeup and a relentless thrash metal attitude. Their entire aesthetic is rooted in B-movie gore and dark comedy, and they lean into it with absolute dedication.
Despite not being part of the progressive genre, their set was tight, energetic, and well-executed. The band clearly knows how to work a crowd, fists were flying and people were having an absolute blast. It was a break from the usual proggy introspection and added a high-octane, horror-themed jolt to the weekend.
So no, it wasn’t for me musically, but I have to give them credit: they know exactly what they’re doing, and they do it well. The crowd absolutely ate it up, or were smashed to little gory pieces?
