Ions live at ProgPower Europe 2024

Ions live at ProgPower Europe 2024

One of the biggest surprises of Sunday came early with Ions from Czechia. Despite being in the early slot, the Sjiwa was noticeably packed, the band truly deserved every bit of that attention.

With a charismatic and energetic frontman commanding the stage, Ions delivered a powerful and polished set that showcased an impressive range of styles. Their dynamic songwriting - filled with intricate time signature changes, soaring melodies, and a punchy rhythmic backbone,  felt like a true embodiment of both “Prog” and “Power” in the festival’s name.

For many attendees unfamiliar with the band, this was a true discovery moment. Judging by the roaring crowd response, Ions walked away with a hall full of new fans and the well-earned recognition of a band to watch closely.

One of my passions is Photography and Web Design (16+ years career path), sharing this passion and creativity as a bag designer and maker. I like all things Prog, and listen a wide variety of styles within the "Progniverse", but what I enjoy the most are the creativity and "out-of-the-box" approach musicians can offer their listeners. I consider that to be truly Prog!
