Perfect Storm – Stairs

Perfect Storm carefully crafted “Stairs” prioritizing quality and integrating new members, resulting in a strong successor to their debut. With more powerful drums, adventurous keyboards, and expanded guitar solos, the album blends progressive rock with heavier elements and hints of progressive metal. Their thoughtful approach has enhanced their unique sound while avoiding a mere repetition of their first album. 9/10

Fleshgod Apocalypse – Opera

I know technical death metal is not for everyone, but beyond the death metal element, there’s a dimension of theater, poetry and drama, and a message of power and standing against all odds, that I think will inspire almost anyone.

Simone Simons – Vermillion

“Vermillion” is an unexpected surprise, and a very welcome addition to the endlessly growing culture of symphonic and progressive metal that the Dutch are so good at.

DGM_Endless

DGM – Endless

I thought this was going to be just another solid DGM album. It is DGM at their best with a few extra ingredients thrown in to spice things up. I have a few albums by them, but this is a fantastic addition. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before the next offering and who knows what else is in store.

Never Obey Again – Trust

If their output continues as it has so far, it will be hard to keep up with them. This is a happening band who you may well find on the line-up of a festival sometime soon. I hope I am lucky enough to be at one such event because I’m sure this material will transfer very well to the live environment.

BEAT @ Cirque Royal, Brussels – 23 June 2026

BEAT – Not a Museum Piece, but a Living Machine King Crimson has never been one fixed memory for me. I saw the later incarnation with three drummers in Antwerp: an impressive, almost ceremonial machine in which the repertoire unfolded as a broad musical landscape....

Quidam @ Midsummer Prog Festival (20.06.2026) – Maastricht (NL)

Some concerts are experienced with your ears. Others are experienced just as much through your memories. Quidam’s performance at Midsummer Prog undoubtedly belonged to the latter category. My history with the band goes back almost twenty years. Ever since its...

Airbag @ Poppodium 013 Tilburg – May 24, 2026

Airbag – melancholy, atmosphere and controlled intensity at 013 Next Summary In a well-filled 013 Next, Airbag delivered an intensely atmospheric performance built around melancholy, slow-burning tension and musical refinement. Following a strong opening set by...

SPACE Quartet in Tienen – Progressive Spirit, Pure Improvisation

At first glance, SPACE Quartet might not seem like an obvious feature for an international progressive rock platform. A Belgian improvisation collective built around an electric sitar does not fit neatly into the conventional prog canon. Yet that is precisely why...
