ProgPower Europe interviews: Novena

ProgPower Europe interviews: Novena

This is a series of short interviews with some of the bands billed for the 2023 edition of ProgPower Europe festival, to happen between 6 and 8 of October 2023, in Baarlo, The Netherlands. To close we present you the band who will be warming up everyone at the Pre-Party on Thursday 5 of October at Kasteel De Berckt, Baarlo. This is a separate event co-organized by Novena and The Progspace! Grab your tickets here: http://novppe.eventbrite.co.uk/

Novena is one of those band that have become a staple on any progmetal and modern prog playlist. They’re highly praised debut album “Eleventh Hour” amassed them a huge number of followers. Diverse singles and changes of lineup have kept the band busy over the latest years. They’re currently preparing a new album with their new co-singer Pipi Gogerl who already amazed us with her skills on their latest singles ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Titans’. We can’t wait to hear what the band has in store as a special one-off show in acoustic trio at the legendary ProgPower Europe Pre-Party at Kasteel de Berckt!

This is your first performance at ProgPower, how did you get to know the festival?

The festival has been all over our social media pages for years! People (including us!) are clearly very excited to have more progressive rock/metal/pop events, and so we’d always hoped that we might be there one day! This time we’re at the Pre-Party and we are ready!

What are your expectations of this year’s ProgPower?

Well first, and most importantly, we want to have fun, and we hope that we can get people into the crazy party mood this festival deserves. We sure have a lot of stupid fun planned and we have plenty of opportunities for the audience to participate in our madness.

Being able to meet the members of a band that is playing is one of the things people appreciate at ProgPower Europe. What would you say to visitors that would like to meet up after the show?

Oh absolutely overrun us, PLEASE. We´d love to say hello and chat and maybe even jam at the end of the day. We are always happy to meet the people who support us.

What other bands in the ProgPower Europe 2023 line-up are you looking forward to?

Pipi Gogerl speaking: I am very sad that I can´t stay for the whole festival due to my work schedule but if I stayed I´d have loved seeing Earthside and Ihlo. But the lineup is full of great bands!

Anything you really would like to share with our audience?

A relentless evening of bewildering musical nonsense. We can’t wait to ruin your festival before it’s begun ❤
