The almighty Cynic to headline ProgStorm Festival 2026!

ProgStorm Festival has revealed a major highlight for the 2026 edition! None other than genre masters Cynic will headline Friday night at Club Soda in Montreal. For more than three decades, Cynic have stood as one of the most influential and visionary forces in progressive metal, shaping the genre in ways few bands ever have. Led by founding member Paul Masvidal, also known for his work with Death and Aeon Spoke, the band has continuously redefined what progressive music can be.

From the masterpiece and genre bending impact of “Focus” to the luminous return of “Traced in Air” and its later expansions, Cynic created a language where technical precision, jazz fusion and emotional depth coexist seamlessly. Albums such as “Carbon Based Anatomy“, “Kindly Bent” to “Free Us” and “Ascension Codes” continued that journey, even through pauses and sadly untimely deaths in the Cynic family, Masvidal and the band kept exploring textures rhythms and introspection with a constant drive toward artistic rebirth and freedom. We’re looking forward to what the band is preparing for their most awaited upcoming album.

Their influence is woven deeply into the modern progressive scene, with countless bands citing them as a foundational influence. Seeing Cynic take the Friday headliner slot at ProgStorm 2026 is beyond awesome, it is a statement and one that will echo far beyond Montreal. Don’t miss the chance!
