Canadian Progmetal trio SOND3R premiere literally cool video for ‘Malediction’
SOND3R is a progressive metal trio from Ottawa, ON Canada who fuse technical precision, ambient textures and crushing heaviness. Jack Kuzmyk (Bass & Vocals), Vincent Belanger (Guitars) and Sean Connor (Drums) originally formed under the name “Nessie”, releasing one EP and a full-length album while attending their studies of Algonquin College’s Music Industry Arts program.
As their sound matured, so did their vision. In 2022, the band rebranded as SONDER, releasing their double concept album, “Primordial Rule” as a five-piece. Following line up changes and creative evolution, the band streamlined into a powerful trio, and in 2025, SOND3R was officially born.
Recharged, redefined and ready to take their dark, immersive sound global, SOND3R share a powerful, new song tohether with a litterally cool video: ‘Malediction’.
‘Malediction’ tells the story of a corrupt king and the rising fury of the people under his rule. The title meaning, “to speak evil upon, or curse” captures the idea of a collective uprising through words, a verbal revolt powerful enough to strip the nefarious king of his power and condemn him to eternal darkness. Inspired by the current global climate and the frustration sparked by unchecked leadership, “Malediction” is a fantasy rooted in a reality where the people reclaim power through their voice and justice is finally served.

‘Malediction’ was written, recorded, edited, mixed and mastered entirely by SOND3R (Jack Kuzmyk, Vincent Belanger and Sean Connor). The music video was shot and edited by videographer Joseph Creech. It was recorded in February 2025 on the Bay of Quinte in Deseronto, Ontario Canada, on the property of Sean’s old childhood home.
