Introducing Feather Mountain, 4th band at our 10th Anniversary show
If you’ve been following The Progspace for a while, chances are you’ve seen us talking about Feather Mountain before. Ever since their debut album “Nidus“, we’ve had a soft spot for this outstanding Danish progressive metal band. With their second album “To Exit a Maelstrom” the band cemented a place among the most exciting newcomers then. It’s been a real pleasure to watch them grow with every release. Their latest album, “A Liminal Step“, is yet another step forward, showcasing a band that continues to evolve while staying true to its emotional and atmospheric identity.
Blending progressive metal, post metal and cinematic ambience, Feather Mountain have crafted a sound that is both crushing and beautiful. Their music is built on atmosphere, emotion and dynamic songwriting, seamlessly shifting between delicate passages and towering walls of sound.
Our connection with the band goes a bit back. In 2021, Feather Mountain were part of the third edition of The Progspace Online Festival, introducing our audience to their captivating blend of progressive metal, post metal and cinematic atmosphere before the release of of their excellent sophomore album “To Exit a Maelstrom“. It was clear even then that they were a band destined for bigger stages.
Following the release, Feather Mountain firmly established themselves as one of the most exciting progressive metal bands to emerge from Denmark in recent years. The album struck a perfect balance between atmosphere, emotion and sheer heaviness, and quickly became one of our favourite releases of the year.
Their latest album, A Liminal Step, continues that upward trajectory. Expanding on the cinematic and emotional qualities that have become their trademark, the band explores new textures and sonic landscapes while retaining the intensity and vulnerability that make Feather Mountain so distinctive. It’s an ambitious, beautifully crafted record that rewards repeated listens and, in our opinion, marks another important step in the band’s evolution.
Feather Mountain have also become one of the hardest-working bands on the Danish live circuit. Whether opening for renowned international acts or performing at some of Denmark’s most respected festivals, they’ve steadily built a reputation as a phenomenal live act.
We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Feather Mountain several times over the years, from their appearance at ProgPower Europe to a more intimate show in Sønderborg, Denmark. Every performance has left us with the same impression: this is a band that simply belongs on stage. Their musicianship is exceptional, but what really sets them apart is the emotion they pour into every song. They have a rare ability to completely draw the audience into their world, and each time we’ve walked away even more convinced that they deserve every bit of recognition they’ve earned.

The band recently entered a new chapter with the arrival of vocalist Jonas Høyrup, following the departure of longtime frontman Mikkel Aaen Lohmann. Taking over from such a distinctive voice is no small task, but Jonas has embraced the role with confidence, bringing his own character and stage presence while preserving the emotional core that defines Feather Mountain.
We’re incredibly happy to have Feather Mountain at our 10th Anniversary Show. If you’ve never seen them live before, you’re in for an unforgettable experience!
