6:33 – Feary Tales For Strange Lullabies – The Dome

“Feary Tales For Strange Lullabies – The Dome”, 6:33 marks a step higher in musicianship, composition and craziness, as well as opening a new path in this chaotic world the band created. They streamlined the story making it easier to grasp (if that is possible?) as a concept album – though certainly, it is closer to a wild modern urban rock opera than a traditional concept album. I think the only thing that is a constant about this band: they don’t hold their horses in any aspect, unashamedly free of tags or musical boundaries.

As always with their classic sound full of melodies and expecting the unexpected change in rhythm and patterns, this time the band went more personal and dealt with another dark subject, even though their music inevitably leaves me in a good mood! This EP is another banger on their already excellent discography!

PreHistoric Animals – The Magical Mystery Machine (Chapter 1)

In their music melodies are first, with a strong rhythmic foundation and its organic sound, the right amount of atmospheric synths, crunchy guitars and soul-filled solos, the superb voice from Altzar and his vocal arrangements. This makes everything on The Magical Mystery Machine (Chapter 1) one of the best albums of the year.

Anubis Gate – Covered in Colours

Covered in Colours by Anubis Gate is one of the best covers albums I’ve ever listened to. Each song is a piece of art made out of music that has influenced each of the musicians in the band, re-interpreted and even re-created entirely new with their own sound. After listening to this album, I can only hope for more perfection from this underrated danish band. 4.5★ / Van
