Cydemind unveils new music video for Slumber
Montreal-based instrumental progressive metal band Cydemind unveils their new music video ‘Slumber’ today.
Says drummer Alexandre Dagenais:
“We’re very excited to release this video. Musically, Slumber is very different from our previous work, and we knew it had cinematic potential. It’s our most intimate piece of music, and we’ve long wanted to tie it in with visuals to fully appreciate it.”
The music video was shot at the band’s vacation home in Prince Edward Island where they often gather to compose, record, and enjoy its relaxing and inspiring environment.
Cydemind violinist Olivier Allard adds:
“Thematically, Slumber is halfway between dream and reality, between the imaginary and the concrete. That’s exactly the feeling we get when we’re in PEI. It’s what makes the place so magical.”
The video was directed, shot and edited by Olivier’s brother Vincent Allard who also directed two other Cydemind music videos, Hoax and Winter.
Vincent explains:
“Slumber is more akin to a contemplative short film than a traditional music video. In Winter and Hoax, the virtuosity of the musicians was at the heart of each proposal. This time, I’ve opted never to show the musicians with their instruments, in order to let the song express itself on its own. The protagonists are nature, maritime landscapes, stars, and briefly, humans.”
‘Slumber’ is from Cydemind’s latest album, “The Descent”, available on all digital platforms. The group has also released music videos for the songs Hoax and Breach, also from the same album.
