Exclusive Listening Party with An Abstract Illusion – ProgPower Europe 2025

Exclusive Listening Party with An Abstract Illusion – ProgPower Europe 2025

On Friday, October 3 at midday (12:00 sharp) we’re inviting you to an exclusive Listening Party at The Chapel, Kasteel De Berckt, for “The Sleeping City”, the upcoming third album by Swedish progressive death metallers An Abstract Illusion.

Coming from the worldwide acclaimed album “Woe“, this record is something else and also superb! It’s their most atmospheric and heaviest work so far, pulling you into a soundscape where progressive death and black metal collide with cinematic synths and drones. It feels like stepping into a dystopian sci-fi film soundtrack, only filtered through the band’s unmistakable intensity.

As the band themselves put it:

“When writing The Sleeping City we wanted to explore what the soundtrack to a dystopian sci-fi film, such as Blade Runner or Terminator, would sound like if it were written by a death metal band.”

Fans who caught their show at ProgPower Europe 2023  will remember it well, despite some unfortunate technical problems, the band still delivered a superb performance showcasing their intricate, solid and dark poetry made music. With “The Sleeping City“, they’ve certainly pushed that even further. We had a glimpse of the band’s solid presence at their show in Kolding, Denmark earlier this year, and truly left us in awe!

We’ve already dived deep into ‘The Sleeping City“, and believe me: this is an album that demands to be heard in full and without distractions. It is an album that leaves a mark long after the last note fades. Talking of which…

After that last note fades, we’re excited to have the band’s mastermind, Karl Westerlund, joining us live via stream to answer your questions! Don’t miss this rare opportunity to connect directly with one of the creative forces behind An Abstract Illusion.
