Pelagic Fest goes to Maastricht for 15th label anniversary
On August 24 & 25, 2024, prolific Berlin-based label Pelagic Records will host another Pelagic Fest dedicated to their illustrious roster, celebrating 15 years of post rock, prog metal and beyond. The Festival will move to Maastricht in the heart of the border triangle of Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands in an attempt to establish the Muziekgieterij as annual meeting point for future Pelagic Fests.
In 2024, in addition to the 15th label anniversary, founding band and core team The Ocean will give its seminal 2013 masterpiece “Pelagial” a belated 10 year celebration, with Norwegian prog-metal trailblazer Ihsahn & Belfast post-rock luminaries And So I Watch You From Afar as special guests sharing headliner duties.

Robin Staps, Founder Pelagic Records said:
“We’re excited to bring Pelagic Fest back this year. I have been looking for the right venue for this in Berlin for years and simply had to accept that it doesn’t exist. Muziekgieterij is an amazing well-wrought place catering to the needs of both artists and audience — a place that was built to be a venue, planned by acoustic architects and at the same time offers a nice environment to hang out, chat, browse through vinyl distro boxes and chill between the performances. While we‘re beyond stoked that we‘ve managed to put this lineup together, it goes without saying that sadly not every Pelagic artist can play this year… but that leaves something to look forward to for the coming years!”
The full festival line-up features a great variety of bands from the label’s roster, such as The Progspace favorites Playgrounded, Hippotraktor, A Swarm Of The Sun, Bipolar Architecture & WuW (alongside the headliners of course), more post rock royalty with Oh Hiroshima, Lost In Kiev, EF & Spurv, something for fans of heavier tones from Year Of No Light, LLNN, Briqueville & Glassing, some more left-field/more electronic stuff from Arms And Sleepers, Årabrot & Karin Park and finally some unpredictable chaos from NYOS, Love Sex Machine & Thot. Instead of experimental krautrockers Jegong, who had to cancel their appearance, Hungarian Doomfolker Dávid Makó aka The Devil’s Trade will spread his gloom.
