ProgStorm Festival is back! Aug 21-23, 2026 in Montreal, Canada. An Abstract Illusion is the first band confirmed!

After a massive inaugural run earlier this year, we at The Progspace are thrilled to report that ProgStorm Festival is coming back for its second edition! The first ProgStorm edition, first ever progmetal festival in Canada (held in August 2025) was indeed widely praised. What started as a two-day event grew into a full three-day festival due to overwhelming demand. Media coverage called it “a landmark moment for progressive metal in Canada“, applauding the carefully curated lineup, the high production values, and the real sense of community among fans. As Canada’s first-ever festival dedicated entirely to progressive metal, its debut left a strong mark, and now it is returning on August 21-22-23, 2026.

And now for one of the first major announcements: An Abstract Illusion will make their North American premiere at ProgStorm 2026, performing on Saturday, August 22 at Montréal’s Club Soda. The band, hailing from Sweden and signed to Willowtip Records, brings a profoundly cinematic take on progressive death metal, blending crushing heaviness with orchestral textures, glowing synths, and rich emotional dynamics. Their breakthrough album “Woe” (2022) was highly praised for its depth and tightly woven structure. And their sophomore “The Sleeping City“, further stretches their sonic universe with lush atmospheres and sweeping, expressive soundscapes, earning high praise once again by media and progressive metal fans equally.

This is a landmark moment for An Abstract Illusion: after touring Europe, including runs with Danish Iotunn (see our gallery here) and German Disillusion and a spot at ProgPower Europe 2023, they’ll be crossing the Atlantic for the first time, and ProgStorm will be the stage for that debut. As proud media partners, we at The Progspace couldn’t be more excited to share this news! This truly underlines why ProgStorm is becoming essential for fans of progressive metal at the Canadian space!
