The Night Watch premieres Guitar Playthrough of ‘Mendoza’

The Night Watch premieres the guitar playthrough video of ‘Mendoza’, the second song from 2019 instrumental concept album “An Embarrassment of Riches” (read our review here!). The album follows a nameless explorer who finds themself shipwrecked on a seemingly deserted island. ‘Mendoza’ is the moment when said explorer awakens on the shoreline, abandoned amidst rolling waves and the island’s towering mountains. The overwhelming dread and urgent adventure are expressed through the song.

About the Guitar Playthrough release, the band comment: “We decided to release a guitar playthrough of ‘Mendoza’ because we feel it is an appropriate snapshot of the various styles which make up “An Embarrassment of Riches”: crushing doom riffs give way to lush acoustic playing which morphs into technical progressive metal before melting into ambient post-rock, eventually climbing to a soaring black/folk metal crescendo before racing to the finish line with some melodic death metal flashes for good measure“.

To this guitar player Nathanael Larochette adds: “I am grateful to all of the bands who have paved the way for my development as a musician and I sincerely hope this performance is capable of giving back to all of the music which helped shape me as a composer and guitarist. In closing, this album is about facing insurmountable odds and finding the courage to conquer them with strength and hope. The Night Watch would like to dedicate this song to every individual around the world fighting for a better future, where we stand united in dignity and respect, transcending ignorance and oppression once and for all.
