Haven of Echoes – Memento Vivere

I found it difficult to select my favourite tracks on this album because they are all excellent. So, I just picked the two longest ones, because you get more bang for your buck with those! When I reviewed their first album, I scored it 9/10 but this one is getting a 10.

OceansOfSlumber_WhereGodsFearToSpeak

Oceans of Slumber – Where Gods Fear to Speak

This album is definitely going to be in my album of the year contenders list as I cannot fault it in any way. I don’t dish out full marks very often, but I have no option but to do so in this case. I have a new band to follow, and they have a new fan.

Leprous – Melodies of Atonement

With the new album, “Melodies of Atonement”, the band from Norway offers an unmistakable Leprous experience – and it’s the one you want to dive into.

Vale of Pnath – Between The Worlds of Life and Death

The barrage of blasting on the drums and running nature of the guitar riffs is technical enough to have the nerds satisfied, while the hostile, corrosive sound and evil chord progressions always keep the portals to hell open for those more ritualistically inclined.

Kälad – Arkamine

I think what makes this album interesting is the way it manages to combine what may seem as pretty generic symphonic metal tropes with a modern djent and metalcore blend of sounds and heavy electronic effects.

Midsummer Prog Festival 2022 (Valkenburg/NL, 25 June)

Review – Midsummer Prog Festival 2022: Great weather, food stands, normal and special beers and of course a lot of friends that haven’t seen each other for a long time, with these ingredients the festival and its lineup could not disappoint.

VolaLiveFromThePool

VOLA – Live from the Pool

The sound is as crystal clear as it’s bone-crushingly heavy when it needs to be. The light show and camera work is mesmerizing. And VOLA are playing hit after hit. What a show!

At first glance, SPACE Quartet might not seem like an obvious feature for an international progressive rock platform. A Belgian improvisation collective built around an electric sitar does not fit neatly into the conventional prog canon. Yet that is precisely why...
