ProgPower Europe interviews: Maraton
This is a series of short interviews ProgPower Europe did with some of the bands billed for the 2023 edition of the festival, to happen between 6 and 8 of October 2023, in Baarlo, The Netherlands.
Maraton from Norway has been on the prog radar for a while now, drawing attention for the majestic melodies and raw emotions from their music. We had the honor to have them in our first Online Festival back in 2020 and now we’re super stoked to see them live at ProgPower Europe 2023!
This is your first performance at ProgPower, how did you get to know the festival?
The festival has been well known in the band for years to be honest. Last year Dario Albrecht from “The Prog Space” kindly asked us if he could do a listen-through of our new album at the festival. It was a great success. We also had our release show for “Unseen Color” in Oslo November last year. At the show some fans from the audience said that we would be a perfect fit for the festival and told us that they would contact you guys immediately. We can’t wait to attend the festival for the first time!
What are your expectations of this year’s ProgPower?
We are expecting to have a great time and to meet old and new friends!
Being able to meet the members of a band that is playing is one of the things people appreciate at ProgPower Europe. What would you say to visitors that would like to meet up after the show?
If you see us around – Do not hesitate to get in touch with us. As stated in the question above – We are here to meet new friends. This is a fantastic arena for both audience and band to interact with each other. We can’t wait to meet you all.
What other bands in the ProgPower Europe 2023 line-up are you looking forward to?
We’ve heard a lot of great things about many bands. Terramaze, Ihlo and Earthside are bands that we are looking forward to. But to be honest the greatest thing about going to festivals like Progpower is the experience of discovering new things. We’ll be sure to check out as many bands as possible while we are there.
Anything you really would like to share with our audience?
As a band influenced by so many different genres we are eager to show you guys all the colours of Maraton. It’s been three years since we’ve played in the Netherlands, and we can’t wait to get back. See you soon!
