Greek Prog Metal band Hypostasis looks in the Mirror with new single
Athens, Greece based Progressive Metal band Hypostasis released their first self-produced EP in 2016, a collection of songs showcasing the band’s chops in progressive metal, sharp and memorable riffs, and fluid melodies. At the same time, Hypostasis performed live shows in various venues of the Athens music scene alongside bands such as Mad John The Wise (later known as Khirki), Kosmogonia, and Spit the Blood.
After a hiatus, during which the band worked on composing and refining new music, their debut full-length concept album, “Birth of a Mask”, is finally complete. Scheduled for release on May 8th 2026, “Birth of a Mask” is the culmination of years of effort, and a showcase of the evolution of Hypostasis, both musically and personally. With this new material on the way, Hypostasis have once again started planning live shows to promote the album’s release.
Today, they are ready to have a look into the ‘Mirror’ with the second single leading up to their debut album “Birth of a Mask”.
“Mirror” is one the final songs of the concept album “Birth of a Mask”. It is the protagonist’s most direct confrontation with themselves, and the consequences of the Mask that they have created as a means of protection from the world. In a moment of unrestrained honesty, one can freely argue with their inner self about who they have become, and how they feel about this. This conversation can truly take the form of two separate consciousness opposite one another, a form of antagonism, a struggle – and this is where “Mirror” takes place.
