Grace Hayhurst takes off with final single before new album

Progressive metal multi-instrumentalist Grace Hayhurst has announced the release of her new single ‘Take Off’ on May 30 th , 2025. The track is set for release ahead of the release of her new album, “The World Is Dying”, on June 27 th , 2025!

Grace went into detail about what inspired her to this track:

““This track tells the core message of the record – all of our frustrations with tossers like Elon Musk trying to drain the planet’s resources and run away on spaceships leaving the rest of us commoners behind to fend for ourselves.”

The release comes ahead of her new album, “The World Is Dying”, which also includes her recent single of the same name, on June 27th, 2025. Speaking about the record, Grace said:

“This record represents three and a half years of hard work chipping away constantly in the background in all areas of my life – the devil on my back for better and for worse. I didn’t leave the house for 18 months until the vaccines were ready whilst looking after my Grandad, who is thankfully still with us, and in that time, I wrote a good chunk of this record – as well as my debut EP”.

Starting life as a pianist before moving onto French Horn, performing with various orchestral ensembles across Europe, at age 18, Grace began dabbling on guitar with progressive rock and metal, with the likes of Yes and Opeth acting as her gateway drug. She proudly composed and recorded the bulk of the instruments, with other notable featured musician Robin Johnson of Kyros fame composing and playing the drum parts.

Grace’s compositional approach to “The World Is Dying” was the same as that of her debut EP “Existence Is Temporary”; to create music she wanted to hear. Drawing inspiration from the wide array of sounds that had ever wormed its way into her ears. Rammstein, Genesis, Poulenc, Black Sabbath, Black Midi, the list goes on.

Drum recordings were produced by Shelby Logan Warne in early 2022. However, work was paused until 2024 as Grace and Shelby took over Sensible Music Studios in London. This allowed for the studio space to get those last bits over the line somewhere in between 80-hour work weeks running around for artists such as The Plot in You, Tim Bowness, and Fontaines D.C.

Hayhurst describes “The World is Dying” as

“science fiction turned horrid reality. The pushback of the disparity of economic capital on planet earth. Watching idiotic figures like ‘Elon Musk’ waste our planet’s resources to jet off to Mars for his own personal masturbatory pleasure, leaving the rest of us all behind to fend for ourselves, instead of trying to sort out the problems we have on earth first to enable us all to lead better lives.”

Co-Founder of The Progspace - Dario discovered the world of Prog upon hearing "Shine on you crazy diamond" for the first time at the tender age of 12 around the turn of the millennium. Coming from a musical family and brought up with classical music, this seemed to be the logical next step. Attended the school of www.progulus.com from 2002, delving into both directions: catching up with the history of already more than 30 years of progressive music as well as always staying up to date with the newest prog sounds. He loves meeting like-minded people and enjoying live music at a concert somewhere in Europe.
