Exclusive: VISAGEM premiere their debut video ‘Abismo’

Brazil’s underground has a new name worth reckoning with. We’re presenting the exclusive premiere of ‘Abismo‘ (Abyss), the debut single and first official music video from VISAGEM, a young four-piece from the Paraíba Valley in the state of São Paulo. Formed in 2025, the band builds its music from atmosphere and riffs: heavy guitars folded into psychedelic textures, hypnotic rhythms and cinematic dynamics that slide between aggression and introspection without ever breaking the spell.

‘Abismo’ translates as ‘Abyss’, and the song lives up to the word. Sung entirely in Portuguese, it captures the moment someone stands at the edge of the unknown: caught between fear and acceptance, guilt and the temptation to simply let go. But the lyrics stay deliberately ambiguous, leaving room for each listener to fall into their own version of the drop. The vocal lines work as another instrument here, carrying emotion over literal meaning.

The band sums up the idea behind it plainly:

Someone standing at the edge of an abyss, uncertain whether they are looking into darkness — or whether the darkness is looking back.

The video is directed by GG Di Martino and developed hand in hand with the band. It is less a music clip than a short experimental film. Shot through a lens of surrealism and psychological suspense, it draws openly on the timeless unease of The Twilight Zone, the visual tension of Hitchcock, and the ritual textures of early experimental cinema. Doors, eyes, fragmented faces, hands and shadows appear as visual metaphors; collage, grain, analogue textures and high-contrast black-and-white do the work instead of digital spectacle. The result manages to feel nostalgic and unsettling at the same time.

With ‘Abismo’, VISAGEM plant their flag: this is the opening chapter of a larger artistic universe where music, visuals and symbolism are meant to be experienced as one. We’re excited to see what follows after this first step into the dark!
