There’s always a list of things to get right in order to make good music, to have a complete “product”. But beyond all those, Scardust’s music is an experience. And just like any real life experience, it’s hard to contain it within boundaries.
This is the sort of album where one play though is not enough, each subsequent listen reveals something else. You can head bang to it, brandish an air guitar or just lie down in a darkened room and listen.
Three years ago, I was thoroughly impressed by “The Machine is burning and now everyone knows it could happen again”, so I was wondering, how are they going to surpass their strong debut. But to my pleasant surprise, they did! The machine is still burning and it brought us to the Age of Ephemerality.
Here’s hoping that it’s not another five years before we hear from these guys again. My album of the year shortlist is getting longer, and this is another band on my watch list. Their material is quite often near the soft end of my taste in music, but talent like this cannot be ignored
