With “Imperial” you know what you’re getting if you already enjoy Soen, and if you don’t you’ll get some nice music.

I’m convinced at this point that Cult of Luna simply is not capable of writing bad music. While it’s shorter than a full-length album, it is still able to captivate me, and I cannot wait to see what they come up with on the other side of this midpoint.
The mix of cyber-technical and industrial metal with the epic atmospheric and melodic elements is a superb recipe.
“Playing House” is coming to kill the winter blues and has all the right tools – catchy hooks, memorable melodies, depth and complexity. Judging by the fact that the first single dates back to 2018 it’s safe to say that this album has been cooking for a while, which has only made it more refined.
Like the title suggests, the album has a very comforting feel. I’d describe the mood as similar to that of a friend trying to cheer you up.
