The mix of styles in the material on “A Tale of Fire” speaks volumes to me. Debut albums are always a great stepping stone for bands, and I hope this landmark moment will spur them on. I am sure they have plenty of ideas in their locker and I look forward to hearing more from them.
As good as this EP is, I hope it is a stopgap in lieu of another full album. That would be most welcome, and this is certainly a band to watch out for.
They were always kings of odd time signatures, disrupted rhythmic songwriting and extreme technicality, so to see them scale down on these aspects was not something I was ready for. I was also afraid they’d just dilute their creativity to please a wider audience. But Persefone is as strong as it ever was, if not even stronger.
If you too would like to dive into dopamine induced hopelessness then I invite you to enter “The Inexhaustible Imperfection of The World”.
We’re left with strong feelings of uplifting melancholia, if that makes any sense, triumphant, yet aware of the hardships and traumas endured on our journey so far. And that is the exact moment I know there’s no way around a perfect 10/10 for “Binary Dream”, because it’s nothing short of breathtaking, both on a technical and emotional level.

Exist Immortal playing for a charity event at O’Rileys in Hull, 31st May 2019. A fantastic evening was had by all, and a bargain for a fiver.
The 7 bands at Heart Sound Metal Fest produced an unique day that will live in the memory of those who attended. Leprous as headliners gave an awesome unique ‘shuffle-set’ show. Vola were superb on stage and the big surprise for many was Smash Hit Combo with their blend of hip-hop and metalcore. All bands offered their best to help for a good cause: raise awareness and funds on the fight against Leukemia.
For a first time edition, Prognosis Festival held the bar very high whether it was with the line up and also all the additional events with conferences, masterclasses, signing sessions. Even though one could have wished for a better schedule with no overlapping bands, the line up was incredible to set up a first time event and create a unique festival signature. Incredible but safe, there were hardly any bands on the bill that the progressive metal fans had not heard of. And of course the hottest acts of the moment were headlining. But as a first time edition, better be safe than sorry!
