Australian composer prdr premieres new single “spaces in between (the observer)”
prdr is a composer and producer from Adelaide, Australia. His upcoming, second release, “the malice of chance and time”, features four intricately constructed tracks that delve into the interplay of fate and temporality. True to prdr’s style, the EP fuses expansive post-rock atmospheres with meticulously layered instrumentation, introspective lyrics, compelling rhythmic and dynamic shifts.
Ahead of the EP’s release on 22 July 2025, you can already enjoy the second single, ‘spaces in between (the observer)’, here:
‘spaces in between (the observer)’ is by far my most ambitious through-composition to date—rooted deeply in my progressive rock and metal background yet venturing further into cinematic, atmospheric, and deeply rhythmic terrain. It’s a piece with nooks, crannies, hooks and layered textures—built to be explored, not just heard. The accompanying video, split into a 3 part story to be released over the coming weeks, is a visual meditation on time, death, choice and control, resonating with the nature of the track itself.
The first part of the video trilogy is now available as well, welcome to watch it here:
Recorded across Australia, “the malice of chance and time” maintains the high production standards that also defined his debut, featuring standout performances from Rob Brens (Mirrors, I Built the Sky) on drums, Liam Horgan (James Norbet Ivanyi) on bass, and Chad Blondel on vocals. Mastered by the acclaimed Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Cog), whose expertise is synonymous with modern progressive rock, and mixed by Simon Grove (Intervals, Protest the Hero, Plini), the EP sounds polished, strong and evocative.
