Is the bride truly dying? In times of internal struggle, My Dying Bride releases its 14th full-length studio album. While it does not stand among the band’s major classics, it is a solid album that mostly deserves praise.
“Suspiro” feels like an honest experiment. It’s wacky and weird, but it hits all the intended feels in unexpected ways.
Eternal Storm explore complex ideas, deliver them through raw and unaltered emotion, and do so using brilliant musical ideas delivered with fantastic execution.
This band probably should be better known, they have a cool image and an interesting concept, almost a brand. By all accounts their live shows are something to behold. Whether I get to witness that remains to be seen, maybe not. Regardless, there is a back catalogue to investigate and possible future episodes of Cypecore to look forward to.
The fresh take on heavy orchestration in death metal is very exciting. They nailed an incredible sound and brought forth some fantastic melodies and epic moments.
Wilderun from the USA were booked to play ProgPower Europe 2020, but we all know those were the years the world locked down, so now the americans will be headlining this year’s festival with a new album in the folds, the highly acclaimed Epigone , and we cannot be more happy to finally see them live at ProgPower Europe 2023!
Maraton from Norway has been on the prog radar for a while now, drawing attention for the majestic melodies and raw emotions from their music. We had the honor to have them in our first Online Festival back in 2020 and now we’re super stoked to see them live at ProgPower Europe 2023!
Teramaze from Australia are no strangers to the ProgPower Europe magic. They played in 2019. The Melbourn based prog veterans have not stopped writing and releasing music, during the pandemic the band was incredibly productive, releasing no less than 4 new records – “I Wonder” (2020), “Sorella Minore”(2021), “And The Beauty They Perceive” (2021) and “Flight Of The Wounded” (2022). To top it all, they just released some weeks ago their new album: “Dalla Volta” (2023) from which surely we’ll be hearing live at ProgPower Europe 2023!
Earthside from the USA is one of the highest regarded prog band of the latest years. Their debut album “A Dream In Static” (2015), full of ambition and majestic soundscapes brought them to the mainstream for prog audiences worldwide. 8 years and a lot of happenings later the quartet will release their long awaited sophomore album “Let The Truth Speak” on november 17th. The band were going to perform at ProgPower Europe 2016 edition but had to cancel. Exist Immortal playing for a charity event at O’Rileys in Hull, 31st May 2019. A fantastic evening was had by all, and a bargain for a fiver.
The 7 bands at Heart Sound Metal Fest produced an unique day that will live in the memory of those who attended. Leprous as headliners gave an awesome unique ‘shuffle-set’ show. Vola were superb on stage and the big surprise for many was Smash Hit Combo with their blend of hip-hop and metalcore. All bands offered their best to help for a good cause: raise awareness and funds on the fight against Leukemia.
For a first time edition, Prognosis Festival held the bar very high whether it was with the line up and also all the additional events with conferences, masterclasses, signing sessions. Even though one could have wished for a better schedule with no overlapping bands, the line up was incredible to set up a first time event and create a unique festival signature. Incredible but safe, there were hardly any bands on the bill that the progressive metal fans had not heard of. And of course the hottest acts of the moment were headlining. But as a first time edition, better be safe than sorry!
