Haken – L-1VE

“”L-1VE” is the perfect retrospective (at least aurally) on the first four studio albums and ten years of Haken. I am super excited to find out what the future holds for those six incredibly talented and equally lovely blokes. And now the wait is on for HVKEN and the subsequent touring cycle. Luckily, we have “L-1VE” to keep us company.” / 4,5/5★

Deafening Opera – Let Silence Fall

“Seamlessly switching between classically influenced harmonic beauty and dirty rock sounds, Deafening Opera have found their niche in the progressive rock scene and with “Let Silence Fall”, they effortlessly close up to Germany’s champions league of prog bands.” 4,5/5★ /Dario

Phi – Cycles

“Accessible yet chock full of heavy hitting polyrhythmic grooves and blistering solos, Phi not only reinvented themselves, they single-handedly forged the blueprint of a genre with six equally impressive and anthemic hits. All killers, no fillers – “Cycles” is a masterpiece!” 5/5★

Persefone, Oddland & Defecto Tour Review

Persefone are one of the best live bands out there these days. Their unique combination of mind-blowing complexity, a sheer abundance of energy and power mixed with melodies from outer space and some philosophical spirituality is highly contagious.

La Dame Qui Piquait Les Cœurs – Livre 1 – Les Caprices du Cupidon

“[The music] is fairly epic in sound and songwriting, to an extent that it almost beggars belief that all this was written, played, sung, produced and programmed by Nehl Aëlin herself with only the help of four musicians and not a whole symphony orchestra.[…]Do yourself a favor and treat yourself with the wonderful and beguiling music of the Lady who picks the hearts (La Dame qui Piquait les Cœurs) if you like movie soundtracks, classical music and french chansons. You won’t regret it.” 4,5/5★

Schizofrantik – Ripping Heartaches

Poem, Damnations Day and White Walls Tour Review

Poem has the professionalism, stage presence, talent, and songwriting skills of a much bigger act, and I can only hope that festival organizers and the progressive community will give them the attention they deserve in the future. On the way out of the venue there were a lot of smiling faces and happy audience members, all in all, a night to remember.

Road to Jerusalem – Road to Jerusalem

“Road to Jerusalem don’t reinvent the wheel of heavy rock completely, but they sure as hell give it a breath of fresh air with a unique identity, filling the gap the incredible Ark left all those years ago and delivering a welcome treat for all those who find Jørn Lande’s solo albums all too same-ish and straight forward.” 4/5★

Tour review: Malina 2017 – Leprous, Agent Fresco, Alithia and Astrosaur

With all the surprises, strong support (or co-headliner) acts and a Leprous performance that seemed out of this world, the “Malina” tour ranks on the top of the list of 2017, for some (like our Munich reviewer Dario!) even leaving behind the likes of the Ayreon Universe shows and Shattered Fortress, both among the highlights of the concerts roster of 2017 in Europe. Leprous are superstars, and deservedly so.
